BROODMARES
"Every good horse has a good dam!"
This is the cornerstone ideal of the Hidden Dragon breeding program. We believe
that all breeders assume the responsibility of producing horses that are a joy to
be around and are a source of pride for their owner. High quality matriarchs are
vital members for any selective breeder. In fact, we believe that the dam is even
more important than the sire, because of the great influence they have over the
early life of the foal. Because mares only produce one foal per year, at most, selecting
quality mares is especially critical.

With this in mind, we will consistently strive towards having the best broodmares
possible. Every broodmare at Hidden Dragon Morgans has been carefully evaluated
in four areas: Breeding, Conformation, Movement and Mind. We also place emphasis
on "proving" their quality, either through the show ring, producing quality foals,
or both.
As a result of our highly selective process, we have a relatively small number of
broodmares. Consistent with our philosophy, each of our mares, although varied in
bloodlines and look, have the following traits in common: Impeccable breeding; Athletic
and beautiful to look at standing still or in motion; Highly intelligent; Easy to
train and a joy to work with; Frienly to humans and other horses; Very "showy",
yet maintain a calm and peaceful attitude when asked.
Even as we expand our breeding program we will continue to be highly selective in
choosing new broodmares, and will continually evaluate the mares we have to ensure
they produce the quality foals we are aiming for.
We hope you enjoy your visit to our broodmare page. We will be more than happy to
answer any questions about our mares, and would heartily welcome anyone coming by
our farm to see our mares in person, whether just for the joy of seeing beautiful
horses or as part of the decision to purchase a foal.
Welcome!!!
